My favourite places to buy presents in Chorlton

Hey everyone! It’s almost Christmas, but it’s not too late to buy a few last minute presents from lovely local folk! And that’s exactly what we will be doing this weekend. Saturday is earmarked for shopping, wrapping and watching a festive film with a take away. (Still searching for the perfect Chinese take-away in this area, by the way). So where will we be shopping? Well, I’m gonna tell you!

1. Pad –
This is my favourite shop in the whole of Chorlton, and I make no secret of it. It sells all sorts of gifts and beautiful items for your home, from cute children’s toys to special wine glasses, interesting books, my favourite brand candles (Lily Flame) and hundreds of other exciting things. If I’m stuck for a gift, I go here, and I’m sure to find something unique. I also love the card selection, which is right up my street.

2. Epicerie Ludo –
Down at the other end of Chorlton is this gorgeous little grocery store, Epicerie Ludo, who incidentally won the MEN’s ‘Hero of the High Street’ in November. We always go to pick up a few unusual bits and bobs for people’s stockings from here – some Marble Beer for my dad, wine for my other half’s parents, hot choc etc. They are normally pretty generous with the samples too! It’s a lot of fun shopping here.

3. Chorlton Street Market – Every 3rd Saturday
Fortuitously the street market falls this weekend, so we will call there and pick up yet more stocking fillers. We still need lots of cheese and a few chutneys for someone’s present too. There were lots of extra stalls this time last year, so there was even more to choose from, so hopefully it will be fruitful. But it’s worth calling by for a Lush Brownie alone!

4. Franny and Filer –
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this place much before, but it is a stunning jewellery and craft shop on Beech Road. Every time we go past something catches our eye and makes us go WOW! Forget boring, mass produced jewellery on the high street and check this place out if you are looking for something really special.

5. In The Middle – which I posted about here.
I’ve had a little idea for gifts that requires a visit to this place on Saturday. They sell vintage china and other old oddities! I’m going to buy some china tea cups and package them up with loose leaf tea for a few of my family members. The prices here and incredibly reasonable and I expect I’ll be able to find something to suit everyones taste as their is so much to choose from. I think it’s going to look like I scoured far and wide for them, when actually I just nipped down the street.

We will also need liquorice from Bittersweet, a plant for my gran from Blossom and some bags from the Unicorn, for making up the little hampers we now do on a yearly basis.
